An example of a wine of great tradition but with new ideas and tremendous passion. In this case the winemaker - Luigi Sarno - decided to replant the vineyard changing the exposure of the grapes to the sun, all done by hand and in complete respect of nature. Having the advantage to be working with / on one a territory with great potential for white wine, these changes immediately resulted in an amazing product. A wine with great complexity and a beautifull balance and alternance between minerality, fruit and accidity. All together a nearly perfect matrimony.
The Cantina del Barone winery, owned and managed by Luigi Sarno, is located near Avelino, in the Italian Campania region, south east of Naples.
The winery’s first vineyard was planted back in 1987, at the hands of Luigi Sarno’s father who, after having contributed his annual harvest to Mastroberardino each year, in 1996 took the initiative to vinify his own grapes. In 2008, after earning a degree in enology, Luigi officially entered the company and soon after his father fully handed over the reins to Luigi. This transition was marked by the replanting of half a hectare of the particle 928 vineyard to ensure better exposure towards the sun.
