Daniele Ricci’s base wine but far from a basic wine. A wine that passes large part of its youth in steel tanks to then further mature in the bottle. In the nose a nice equilibrium between caramel and citrus fruit, combined with just a slight hint of hydrocarbon / tar which is very typical for this grape. Very pleasant and special. In the mouth great freshness and well balanced. A wine made from a great grape that is typical and indigenous for this specific area and that had been forgotten for a large number of years.
Ricci is a family owned and managed wine producer situated in the hills around Tortona, in Costa Vescovato to be precise. The Ricci family have been producing wine here since 1929 and since a large number of years they produce their wines in a complete organic and biologically-sustainable manner. All the wines that Daniele Ricci produces are truly remarkable products, but it is Timorasso wine, made of the Timorasso grape, that makes Ricci particularly unique. Timorrasso is a native local grape from this particular area which was rediscovered by Walter Massa a number of years ago and which has stimulated producers like Daniele Ricci to develop the Timorasso based wine(s) into a truly unique set of products.
