Did you ever pick an apple of a wild growing apple tree? Did you taste it? Would you agree that it tasted like no other apple you ever tasted? Nature is not bothered with standards and certifications. It does as it wants and manages to surprise you every time. The same goes for Fabbrica di San Martino. None of the elements they use for their winemaking is replicable. Not their vine’s, not their vineyards and not their cellar. Everything is original and in full respect of nature. The same goes for their Rosso. A wine made from traditional Tuscan grapes, the largest part Sangiovese with minor parts of Canaiolo, Colorino and Ciliegiolo, and matured in large oak barres. At the first sip the wine is ‘warm’ and inviting, but without being ‘heavy’, a touch rough or harsh maybe, but just the right touch. One is immediately welcomed by the fruit senses, combined with aromatic erbs and a touch of leather. In short, a great red wine.
La Fabbrica di San Martino is a splendid testimony of this past: the estate extends over 20 hectares. Vineyards, olive groves and forest, which surround a magnificent 18th century Villa. The manor house, built by Count Lorenzo Sardi in 1735, is based on the foundations of a rustic structure from the 1500's. The Baroque Villa is considered one of the most important of the 18th century in Lucca.
Fabbrica di San Martino is DEMETER certified.
